quantum mechanics may be incompatible because they describe two
completely different states of existence. These different existences
are linked by observation however they are governed by different
laws. In a sense they are two different universes with a common link
that allows them to interact with each other. These two universes can
be known as the physical universe and the quantum universe. The
ability to observe an event is what allows that event to manifest in
the physical realm. It could be that only once the link between
observation and reality are found, will a unified field theory be
discovered.
